Making this panel was definetly a different experience than creating my first website. I found myself feeling a bit more frustrated this time around, as I knew how much better the website would look once I put it in a Bootstrap template. I do like how customizable every element is, though. With the template, it was difficult to edit just one element when there were ones under the same class as it. For this Panel though, I felt I had complete control over customization.
This panel ironically probably ended up taking the longest. The main issue I faced with it was getting my images to format correctly in the Portfolio section. For a while, they stopped going into their grid formating, and instead kept stacking in one big vertical column. I eventually solved this by discovering an extra closing div tag that was causing problems. I also ended up needing to go into a photo editor to crop all my photos to the same aspect ratio so they would format nicely. I did have to add white around some of the images so that I wouldn't crop out too much of the artwork. One small detail that I felt added a lot to this panel and panel three was that all of my links work! Below my Involvement section, anything that has a "learn more" or something similar does actually link to a page relating to the topic! Same goes for the little linkedin icon and instagram icon underneath my name at the top!
This panel was probably the easiest to do. I will say it was frustrating that some elements, like h2 text, were two different colors on the original template, but then when I went to edit it, both h2 texts would change color. I had hoped to change more colors but those aspirations started to disappear as I realized how difficult it was to change individual elements. This being said, I think my final product is a really clean website and something that I can happily say I'm proud of! It was a small change, but I think changing around most of my icons for this panel created a nice personal touch to it. It's just a lot cuter and more me! One issue that I was unable to solve was the JavaScript not linking/working properly. From what I could see, everything looked to be correct, but there were lines of code that were not in the template when I downloaded it, but were when I inspected the demo version. In the future, I'd like to fix this issue and gain a better understanding of how JavaScript works, as I think some of the animations and interactive elements really can add a lot to a page.
