Welcome to my first post from abroad! At about 9:30 Madrid time we arrived off our plane. On the plane I attempted to watch Pulp Fiction, but could barely hear it so I gave up halfway through to just listen to music and read a little bit of my book, Devotions by Mary Oliver. I barely slept a wink despite my best attempts, but the benefit to that was getting to notice the beautiful views out the window as we arrived!

After arriving and getting everyone’s bags we took a bus to our hotel in Madrid. The bus parked a little ways from the hotel so we all had to drag our comically large suitcases through this little square to the hotel, which was quite funny as we could feel the eyes on us. Now we’re currently in about an hour and a half of rest time (we’re all quiet jet lagged) before we set out with Manuel, our program coordinator to go get some food and coffee.
Here are some pictures of us in our hotel where we will be for the next couple days!

First up we have Caroline A. and Olivia posed up by our window in our hotel, and then a selfie Anna Rose and I took in the mirrored elevator that we had such a hard time finding (what’s the point of an elevator if I had to haul my bag up a flight of stairs to get to it…?) Anyways, our final photo is from the window in our hotel room, which leads out onto this little side street!
That’s pretty much all for now, I’m so jet lagged and tired but so excited to be here in Madrid finally and to be getting to start up this blog!
Until next time!
Sincerely,
Caroline
P.S. Here’s a cute photo of my mom and I at the airport!
